Suppliers and businesses are being warned about a **Request for Quotation (RFQ)** circulating via email, claiming to be issued by the **Department of Correctional Services (DCS)**. The message invites companies to submit quotations for the **supply and delivery of 600 ATLAS-980H Stapling Machines** under **BID NO: HO15-2026**.
The email lists **Zanele Makhoba** as the contact person, along with a telephone number and an email address for submissions. It also includes a physical address at the Poyntons Building in Pretoria, which is a known government location. However, **the presence of real addresses and official-sounding details does not guarantee authenticity**, as scammers often copy such information to make fraudulent RFQs appear legitimate.
One of the key warning signs is that the email is **unsolicited and generic**, addressed simply as “Good Day Supplier.” Legitimate government tenders are typically published through official procurement systems rather than sent randomly to suppliers without prior engagement.
Another concern is the instruction to **download and respond to attached bid documents**, which may expose recipients to **malicious files or fraudulent documentation**. Scammers often use attachments to initiate contact and then request further information once the supplier responds.
In scam cases, this information is used for **identity theft, fraudulent tender submissions, or impersonating legitimate businesses**. Once scammers obtain your company details, they may exploit them for financial gain or further fraudulent activities.
