🚩 Major Red Flags

🚩 Red Flag⚠️ Reason
Fake domain: labourtenders.onlineThe official Labour domain is labour.gov.za. Any .online variation is not legitimate.
No official tender reference numberReal tenders always include RFT/RFQ reference numbers and appear on the National Treasury eTenders portal.
Urgent request to outsourceLegitimate tenders do not encourage outsourcing with such language.
Vague or missing specificationsOften used to rush recipients into replying before verifying.
No official contact or signatureReal government emails include proper titles, phone numbers, and links to their website.

🎭 The Scam Strategy

  1. The scammer sends you a generic but urgent RFQ/RFT.

  2. You’re encouraged to find the product from a third-party (often one they control).

  3. Once you pay the third-party supplier (believing you have a government order), the supplier disappears.

  4. You are left with no payment from “government” and a significant financial loss.
