🚩 Major Red Flags
| Fake domain: labourtenders.online | The official Labour domain is labour.gov.za. Any .online variation is not legitimate. |
| No official tender reference number | Real tenders always include RFT/RFQ reference numbers and appear on the National Treasury eTenders portal. |
| Urgent request to outsource | Legitimate tenders do not encourage outsourcing with such language. |
| Vague or missing specifications | Often used to rush recipients into replying before verifying. |
| No official contact or signature | Real government emails include proper titles, phone numbers, and links to their website. |
🎭 The Scam Strategy
The scammer sends you a generic but urgent RFQ/RFT.
-
You’re encouraged to find the product from a third-party (often one they control).
-
Once you pay the third-party supplier (believing you have a government order), the supplier disappears.
-
You are left with no payment from “government” and a significant financial loss.
